One frame, three uses

Start with the umbrella. Add to it when you need more.

The same steel roof frame is used in every configuration, so a business can start with the umbrella and add legs or walls later.

Where it fits

Between a pop-up canopy and a permanent gazebo.

Pop-up canopies$500–$4,500

Quick to set up, but small, easily damaged by wind and hard to enclose.

Lyon Harbor System$6,000–$7,500, +$1,500 for legs

Welded steel frame, about 179 sq ft of shade, opened by one person and moved on a dolly.

Permanent gazebos$8,000–$25,000+

Plus footings, installation crews and often a building permit. Cannot be moved.

One person, no tools

The frame opens and closes from the center pole with about 30 lb of force. Its own weight helps it open. No winch, crank or crew.

Closes before the weather does

Fold it down at the end of the day or ahead of a storm, then open it again in minutes.

Simpler permitting

Designed to qualify as a temporary structure in many places. Local rules vary, so check with your town.

Wind certification

PE-sealed wind certification is available on request.

The prototype

Built full size and tested by hand.

A full-scale concept prototype was built in aluminum with carbon-fiber-reinforced parts to prove the folding mechanism. The production version is welded steel.

The prototype closed under its black cover.

Closed, it folds down to the center pole.

Folded, the whole roof gathers around the center pole. A fitted black cover slips over it and straps closed, protecting the fabric overnight, between seasons or ahead of bad weather.

Questions
Can I buy one now?

Not yet. The gazebo has been built as a full-scale prototype, and the standalone umbrella version is being modified with a reinforced center pole and base. We are collecting interest to decide on production. Registering puts you first in line for news.

Are the photos real?

The gazebo and enclosure photos show the real full-scale prototype, with the backgrounds added digitally. The umbrella image is a concept rendering, because the standalone umbrella is still being modified.

Will it hold up in wind?

The production frame is welded steel. PE-sealed wind certification is available on request. Like any shade structure, it should be closed in high winds, and it folds down in minutes.

Do I need a building permit?

It is designed to qualify as a temporary structure in many jurisdictions, which usually means less permitting than a permanent gazebo. Rules vary by town, so check locally.

I am a manufacturer. Can I license it?

Yes. The design is covered by U.S. Patent 9,790,705 B2 and is available for license or sale. Use the form and choose "Manufacturer or licensing", or email aaron@lyon-harbor.com.
